The program is designed for girls aged 10-16. Girls meet together in small groups with facilitators and talk about issues related to adolescence. This flexible curriculum incorporates discussion, activities and journaling for girls to be able to share their feelings and experiences with other girls so they can connect with others and not feel isolated. The North Star Program can be one of the activities offered during camp, kind of like arts and crafts or water skiing. The North Star Program could also be a more focused draw for a camp – i.e. have a one week camp that is primarily focused on the North Star Curriculum and have most of the programming focused on the North Star sessions and themes. Camps can offer it as an elective for one of their activity periods or it can be a program that every girl goes through during the camp session.
